Just to brag about K.

Seven things to do before I die:

  1. Travel to every continent at least once (I'll probably leave Antarctica until last)
  2. Live in a country other than the US for at least a year
  3. Live in Hawaii
  4. Retire and pursue my hobbies
  5. Write a book fearlessly
  6. Have a job that helps people
  7. Go backpacking/hiking overnight

Seven things I can (or will) not do:

  1. Have an affair
  2. Have non-reconstructive cosmetic surgery
  3. Smoke cigarettes
  4. Go on Survivor (hypoglycemic, or something—I need to eat! Otherwise I'd totally be there. When they call me for the Amazing Race I am so there.)
  5. Drink blood or eat live insects (hypoglycemia notwithstanding)
  6. Go hunting for sport
  7. Pose for published nude photos/become a prostitute
(This was surprisingly difficult. Because I'm cautious about saying never.)

Seven things that attract me to my spouse: (Only 7?)

  1. His sense of humor
  2. His kindness
  3. His personal integrity
  4. His boundaries
  5. He's a great father
  6. He's a big idea guy
  7. The fact that he is ridiculously proud of me for something which is silly, and he cares about it more than I do

Seven things I say most often:

  1. I love you.
  2. Are you ok?
  3. Do you understand???
  4. E.! Z.!
  5. I'm tired. I'm so tired.
  6. She's having a bad day.
  7. When are you coming home?

Seven books (or series) I love: (Seriously? Only 7?)

  1. Everything by P.G. Wodehouse
  2. Everything by Dorothy Sayers
  3. Most stuff by Bill Bryson
  4. Pride and Prejudice and Emma
  5. A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
  6. Dave Barry Does Japan by Dave Barry
  7. Expecting Adam by Martha Beck

(Is it obvious to you that I like funny?)

Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would if I had time):

  1. So I Married an Axe Murderer
  2. The Philadelphia Story/most movies with Katherine Hepburn
  3. Charade/Rear Window
  4. A Room with a View
  5. Pillow Talk/most movies with Doris Day
  6. Emma/Clueless
  7. Cold Comfort Farm

(I really like funny. Really. And I can read the same books over and over and watch the same movies over and over and never be bothered, so I guess these lists don't mean too much to me.)

I'm tagging K. because he said he wanted to do it and I'm curious.

[K. says, "That would take me three days to do. But it would be right."]

Amy, you really are a very clever writer. I am sure it's a sign of enormous intelligence, but I know you would never admit to it. Enjoyed your "top 7" lists.

Oh, I LOVED Expecting Adam. I haven't run into anyone else who ever read it until now.

I loved it too. I've read it at least 4 or 5 times. I like it because it is true, funny, unbelievable, believable, magical and very touching. I cry every time I read it. I actually read it when I was pregnant with E., told I was AMA (advanced maternal age), having genetic testing, and worried about Down's. It made me not worry about it so much.

I love Cold Comfort Farm. That is my kind of funny.

yeah, we definitely need to hang out together and watch movies and talk books. scary-similar tastes there. (Charade and Pillow Talk almost made the cut for my movie list, too. Charade was one of the first movie I owned on tape.) Damnit, why don't you live closer to me?

Emma is my absolutely favorite book of all time, so of course I love the movies - I have the A&E version and the one with G. Paltrow too. (I like the A&E version better.) And I just adore Philadelphia Story - because it has my favorite actors Cary Grant and the amazing Jimmy Stewart.

I agree with almost all of your books & movies. Especially Dorothy Sayers & Katherine Hepburn. And I just read Expecting Adam this summer and started recommending it immediately.

Funny you mention the somewhat obscure Expecting Adam.... because of course I've read it too. I loved it. I read it when I was going through my nightmare with infertility, and found a lot of comfort in her story that had nothing to do with infertility.
